About the Role
Learning Support Assistants make the education of their students their first concern and are key to the students achieving the highest possible outcomes. You will be a professional with honesty and integrity at the centre of everything you do. With a strong commitment to safeguarding students, you will be child-centred with high aspirations for those you support. Main Responsibilities:
* Support students with their socio-emotional engagement with learning and promote independence in a safe environment.
* Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
* Promote the inclusion of all students, so that all have equal opportunities to feel included and to contribute to school life.
* Support class teachers to create a supportive and relaxed working environment that makes students feel happy and secure.
* Implement the positive behaviour approaches set out by the school, including Restorative Practice and Zones of Regulation.
Personal Qualities:
* A good understanding of behaviour as communication, attachment theory, SEMH needs in the classroom, and theory underlying nurture provision are ideal for any professional working in our school.
* All support, guidance and great future career prospects will be available to the successful candidate.
* Previous school experience is not essential and applications are encouraged from those with transferable skills from similar sectors such as early years or adult social care.
Minimum Requirements:
* Be able to meet key accountabilities set out in Job Description.
* Have experience and/or transferable skills in this area.
* Have good organisational skills.
* Have good communication skills.
* Work in accordance with relevant occupational standards, knowledge/skills and the agreed local competency framework at Abbot’s Lea School.
* Complete a common core programme of induction for working with children.
