Risk & Assurance Insights Analyst - Salary £35,000 to £40,000
This is a great job for someone with risk management experience and a keen interest in identifying trends, themes and broader impacts. If you have a background in life or health insurance, a passion for applying your analytical mindset, understanding root cause and highlighting meaningful insight, we would love to hear from you!
A bit about the job:
Our Assurance team delivers a business-led service to help leaders understand and manage their risk and control environment. The Assurance team is made up of people based in several sites across the UK and is part of the Governance & Assurance (G&A) department, a shared service in the first line of defence.
Within the team we've made great progress with our insights analysis which feeds the assurance team's plan and wider G&A work. It also drives reporting to senior leadership, with strong collaboration across three lines of defence teams providing a coordinated view of assurance plans, results and issues identified. As a result of success to date and ongoing demand, we're creating a role in the team that is dedicated to driving this work forward and enhancing our insight to bring out themes in areas such as root causes and flagging repeat findings and broadening data collection to other Aviva markets.
Day to day, you will conduct assurance activity on risk events, using testing techniques to ensure root causes have been addressed by the business during closure, and analysing data for root causes and themes across IWR. You will use data to compile risk committee reporting to promote the Assurance team's work across the business and analyse assurance team outputs for themes that could inform the wider department's work. You will use the results of your insights and collaboration across G&A and three lines of defence teams to enhance data collection and analysis methods, exploring tools such as Microsoft Excel, Sharepoint, and data analytics support.
The role will involve strong collaboration and relationship building with three lines of defence teams to develop our coordinated assurance approach across IWR. Tracking assurance and audit reviews across the three lines, you will consider where issues could read across to other businesses, sharing learnings within G&A and informing the assurance team plan. The accurate database of information you maintain will feed into Audit Committee reporting, giving senior leaders a pan-IWR view of assurance plans, findings, root causes and themes.
Skills and experience we're looking for:
* Experience working within operational risk management in life or health insurance.
* Able to maintain databases of information, understand the importance of accurate data input, and use functions to maintain and analyse data, such as filters and building simple tables/graphs.
* Willingness to learn quickly, and ability to join the dots, pointing out where issues could read across businesses.
* A self-starter, able to take responsibility for a body of work and drive it forward and the ability to adapt to change as we expand and refine processes.
* Strong communication skills; relationship building, verbal and written.
What you'll get for this role:
* Salary circa £40,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
