About the Role
As our Test Equipment Calibration Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the precision and functionality of the cutting-edge instruments and equipment used in our state-of-the-art research and development facility. Responsible for the management, calibration, and quality assurance of our diverse range of testing equipment, you will be the driving force behind ensuring that our cutting-edge prototypes and innovations meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
1. Facilitating external, accredited calibrations
2. Conducting in-house traceable calibrations
3. Working towards UKAS accreditation and ISO17025 quality systems
4. Producing calibration and test certificates
5. Diagnosing and repairing minor equipment issues
6. Liaising with internal customers to advise on the proper use, maintenance, and replacement of their instruments
What We're Looking For
To thrive in this dynamic role, you'll need to possess a solid background in calibration laboratory work, with experience in adhering to the stringent standards of ISO 9001 or ISO17025. A minimum of a BTEC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a similar qualification) is essential, as is a methodical, practical approach and strong diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must, as you'll be regularly interacting with our team and providing technical guidance. Numeracy and literacy are also key, as you'll be working with detailed calculations, data management, and producing a variety of written materials. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is also required.
Most importantly, you'll need to be a self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised, manage your workload, and meet tight deadlines. A keen eye for detail and a passion for maintaining the highest standards of quality will be instrumental to your success in this role.
