We are looking for a In-house Legal Manager to join our team in UK / Remote (hybrid). If you are looking for challenging projects in a start-up environment with high autonomy and ownership this offer is for you.
In-house Legal Manager – ZEN UK
Responsibilities:
* Advise on a range of issues including commercial, consumer protection, KYC, risk assessment/compliance and data privacy related to the payments businesses worldwide;
* Structure, draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements with our various partners;
* Actively collaborate with a wide variety of internal stakeholders, including product, engineering, compliance, marketing, business development, risk on a range of issues related to product development and commercialization of global payment projects and services;
* Work closely with colleagues across the global legal team to advise on general issues in connection with the launch of projects or programs in the destination countries/regions;
* Help build scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new features and products;
* Participate as a proactive business partner for senior managers and build a trusted advisor relationship;
* Demonstrated ability to analyse complex legal and regulatory issues, assess risks, and provide practical solutions that align with business goals;
* Monitoring and keeping up to date with legislative changes and relevant case law and being responsible for communicating bespoke and practical advice to colleagues and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years experience in the UK (either in-house or top law firm), preferred with 2+ years in the fintech or financial institutions. Global exposure and experience gained in the Fintech startup space would be highly advantageous.
* Familiar with UK legislation as well as an awareness of how this differs in the EU.
* Familiar with the electronic financial services sector to navigate well payments-related matters and money service business compliance requirements, anti-money laundering rules, know-your-customer requirements, and stored value systems.
* An entrepreneurial spirit – a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, deals well with ambiguity and focuses on driving impact.
* A passion for technology and the ability to understand complex business models and product use cases quickly
* Excellent judgment and capable of making smart decisions with imperfect information.
* Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and presentation skills.
* Independent, hard-working, well organized and able to prioritize and manage numerous projects simultaneously and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
