Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Business Manager for Cancer who is passionate about improving services for our patients. This is a new role and is initially offered on a 12-month fixed term / secondment basis. They will assist in quality issues within the MDT and cancer pathways, ensuring high standards are maintained and cancer waiting time targets are adhered to including reducing the number of long-waiters, managing action plan outcomes, tracking complaint/datix updates, etc. They will line manage and provide senior support to the Cancer Pathway and Fast-Track Team, leading the team in a manner that encourages striving for excellence, developing and embedding ways of working within services that deliver robust and efficient processes and comply with standard operating procedures. They will also respond to daily problems and ensure issues are swiftly resolved and implement longer term solutions to issues raised. The successful candidate will have operational experience and experience in presenting information at a senior level. Knowledge of cancer waiting time targets is essential as well as knowledge of governance and processes. They will understand and align themselves to our Trust values. Main duties of the job The post holder will be working with the cancer team across organisational boundaries to ensure appropriate services are in place and to monitor and report national and local strategic and operational cancer objectives / standards. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop and enhance their knowledge, skills and competence in cancer and they willassist in the development of high quality, safe, patient focused cancer services in line with the Trust and the Cancer Alliance objectives. They will support the strategic development of Cancer Services in order to ensure the implementation of the National Cancer Strategy.
