Offer Description
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Southampton welcomes applications for Lecturer or Associate Professor in Magnetic Resonance. The successful candidate will strengthen our thriving research culture within the triple helix strategy of the University, which seeks to achieve cross-fertilisation between research, education and enterprise activity.
Magnetic Resonance includes groups from three faculties. Five PIs with multiple UK and international grants are in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, with others from Biological Sciences and Medicine, and a dedicated research engineer. We operate a large research facility with eight high-field NMR instruments, EPR and various low-field and benchtop systems.
About the role
We seek candidates with a recognised profile in a topical area with a significant magnetic resonance focus, consistent with the level being applied for. You will undertake internationally recognised research, and work to attract significant research funding. You will contribute to the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in a leadership, research, enterprise and educational capacity. Education contributions may be within our Chemistry or Chemical Engineering programmes.
About you
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
* Nationally (Lecturer) or internationally (Associate Professor) recognised track record in an area of research related to magnetic resonance.
* A track record in raising external research funding.
* Motivational leadership in research, education, and enterprise.
* An ability to inspire students and colleagues.
* Commitment to improving equality, diversity and inclusion.
What we can offer you
* A collegiate research-led School that strongly values contributions in education and enterprise.
* An outstanding research environment in Magnetic Resonance, with extensive expertise and a well-established research facility.
* Access to sector-leading high performance computing facilities and a university commitment to maintain that sector-leading position.
The University of Southampton values diversity and equality, and we actively encourage applications from under-represented groups. We are delighted to hold the Race Equality Charter Bronze Award 2022, and both institutional and departmental Athena SWAN silver awards.
Interviews will take place in person in Southampton. Southampton is well connected – just over an hour from central London and with an international airport, but with beautiful surroundings on the south coast and in the New Forest.
