Job Title
A Director - Battery Systems Engineering position is available at a leading distributed energy storage company.
This role involves developing battery systems, combining hardware and software for the MAX energy storage system.
Main Responsibilities
* Integrate hardware and control systems to meet grid code regulations including G99/G100 in the UK and equivalents for international countries.
* Lead research and development of control systems to enhance systems and develop new features.
* Complete design for manufacturability and engineering analysis, ensuring compliance with functional safety standards (ISO26262) and regulatory requirements.
* Develop a portable battery testing kit and back-end system to characterise packs, iterating algorithm assessment to improve throughput.
* Oversee battery systems strategy and software engineering team, developing robust systems, new concepts, features, and prototypes.
* Identify new technologies and potential intellectual property, supporting patent applications.
Requirements
* Master's degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
* 5-10 years of experience in electric vehicles and HV batteries.
* Expertise in Python, Embedded C/C++, and embedded Linux applications.
* Ability to manage CANBus communication.
* Familiarity with power electronics, including battery pack energy production and AC/DC conversion principles.
* Strong understanding of software compliance and functional safety standards (MISRA, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, CMMI, ASPICE, UL 1998).
* Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment pipelines, as well as code base management.
