Grade: G scp23 32,076 to scp27 35,745 Contract: Permanent Role specifics: Essential Car User The Role We are looking for an experienced, innovative and technically minded individual to manage and oversee the Council s Commercial Waste service. It s an exciting time to join Bolton Council s Waste and Recycling Team. We have recently modernised bin collection operations for domestic properties, and we are about to embark on doing the same for our commercial waste service offer for businesses across Bolton. You will help to ensure that Bolton s businesses have access to a Council-operated recycling and waste collection service that is fit for purpose, efficient, aligns with the Bolton 2030 Vision and National Waste strategy, and helps to ensure that Bolton s neighbourhoods are clean, safe, welcoming and that a high-profile presence is maintained out in the community. As lead officer of the commercial waste team, you will also be commercially focussed and will continually drive performance, retain existing customers, and expand the commercial waste service across the borough. You will design, deliver, and distribute promotional campaigns and material, provide quotations to potential customers, proactively manage customer relationships, supervise an operational team, promote the benefits of the council s commercial waste service, and monitor compliance with statutory regulations and contract terms and conditions, addressing non-compliance where necessary. About You You will be a commercially driven, customer focused individual with a passion for sales and increasing income. You will be committed to improving the environment for our residents and businesses. Communication is critical for this role so you will possess exceptional communication skills, be professional, organised and meticulous in your approach to ensure that Bolton delivers a cost effective, highly efficient commercial waste collection service. As the Commercial Waste Officer, your focus will be on retaining existing customers, expanding the service, manage all aspects of income and expenditure and be expected to provide regular reports to senior management. In addition, you will support the wider team ensuring Health and Safety underpins all operational activities. This is a challenging, fast paced role, so we are looking for a self-starter, who can demonstrate existing people management skills, exceptional communication and ideally, you will have a strong background in project management, operational management and or have experience of commercial waste legislation.
