Pure Insight are looking to recruit an Emotional and Mental Health Wellbeing Worker – Young People in Care.
Location: Halton – this is an outreach role so travel around Halton is required.
Salary: £26,000 to £28,500
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours
Annual Leave: 24 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 26 days after 2 years and then up to 27 after 5 years employment.

Pure Insight supports young people leaving children’s homes and foster care (care leavers) between the age of 16 – 28. We provide a wraparound offer supporting young people to take control of their lives, feel connected and develop a sense of belonging in their community.
To support our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Emotional and Mental Health Wellbeing Worker to join our Pure Insight Team. This role is working with young care leavers to teach a range of skills under safety and stabilisation - such as learning self-care and self-regulatory skills, understanding any current or historical diagnosis/labels and what impact this has on them now, delivering therapeutic interventions or supporting them to access other appropriate services.
Job Description
Main Objectives:
1. To work with young people who present with symptoms resulting from experiences.
2. To work with young people aged 18-25 providing assessment of need of trauma.
3. Provide trauma informed training to upskill other professionals working with young people in care and care leavers.
4. Build relationships and liaise with other relevant health professionals around the mental health needs of cared for young people.
Detailed Description:
1. Provide an assessment of need and emotional wellbeing plan.
2. Deliver support to young people presenting with symptoms resulting from experiences of trauma, provide interventions to support safety and stabilisation.
3. Support young people to access health advice, services and support in the community.
4. Provide trauma informed training to upskill staff and volunteers working with care leavers in social care and Pure Insight.
5. Manage your own caseload.
6. Provide group activity to steer parts of the project that promote resilience and developing relationships including the social media/blog space.
7. Build and maintain relationships with relevant professionals working with care leavers, advocating on behalf of young people where necessary.
8. Deal quickly and effectively with safeguarding issues as they arise.
9. Make appropriate referrals as needed in consultation with young people and provide the practical support needed to access other services.
10. Work within Pure Insight’s confidentiality guidelines and safeguarding practice and policies.
Qualities:
1. Maintain appropriate and up to date records of your work, including case notes and monitoring forms.
2. Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the service.
3. Attend both individual and group supervision in line with the requirements of the service.
4. Familiarize yourself with service policies and procedures as they relate to your work.
5. Attend training relevant to the service.
6. Ensure you are current with all relevant safeguarding and legislation.
7. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.
Essential Qualifications:
1. Recognised trauma qualification or training.
2. Counselling/Psychotherapy diploma.
3. Complex Trauma Training.
4. BACP/UKCP accredited/registered or equivalent.
Experience:
1. Supervised therapeutic practice (evidence of hours).
2. Experience of working with cared for children or care leavers.
3. Experience of providing trauma informed support around safety and stabilisation to young people.
4. Minimum 2 years’ experience of a therapist post qualification.
Knowledge:
1. Good understanding of symptoms of trauma including PTSD, BPD, complex trauma.
2. Attachment knowledge.
3. Awareness of specific issues affecting young people.
4. Good knowledge of local services.
Skills:
1. Ability to build rapport and trust with vulnerable young people.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. Ability to manage caseload.
