MADE Partnership acts as a master developer, managing the development of large-scale projects, taking responsibility for the overall vision and strategy, and coordinating the wide range of stakeholders involved. It assembles the land, manages the planning, installs the primary and community infrastructure, disposes of serviced parcels of land to homebuilders, and ensures robust long-term stewardship is put in place.
In this role you’ll work as part of the Group Major Projects team – the specialist master developer unit within Barratt Redrow Developments which manages the MADE Partnership business on behalf of the investors. We have a pipeline of projects ready to mobilise into delivery.
Reporting to the Development Director, as Senior Development Manager, you will contribute to the overall success of Group Major Projects, through supporting the Development Director in securing and delivering development opportunities appropriate to the Major Projects business model.
You will be expected to:
* Identify potential development opportunities suitable for Major Projects through a range of methods, e.g. examination of statutory development plans, housing land audits, liaison directly with the public sector, private landowners and agents.
* Prepare proposal documents founded on master development delivery principles.
* Directly manage multiple projects from identification, due diligence, offer, contract, approvals, option/purchase, planning and community engagement, onward delivery including phase disposals.
* Work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders and consultants to establish and optimise appropriate site assembly and delivery strategies.
* Identify, secure and manage grant funding opportunities for projects.
* Assist the Development Director and the wider team on transactions and other relevant duties as required.
* Support the Development Director in ensuring the team are fully resourced and well-directed, with clear guidelines to their own job responsibilities, and are provided with full support in achieving these, in terms of communication, training and development, and the organisation of the team’s workload.
* Support appropriate reporting within Major Projects in line with the standard format and schedule including timely and accurate production of Board Packs for approval.
* Promote and act in accordance with Group/JV values, systems, policies and procedures.
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
* Experience of transacting on large sites via a number of mechanisms including freehold, joint ventures, options, equalisation, collaboration and bespoke agreements.
* Detailed understanding of the full development process including technical and commercial matters associated with delivering at scale.
* Excellent collaboration skills and experience of negotiating with multiple parties to deliver a mutually beneficial outcome.
* Ideally qualified to degree standard in a relevant subject, e.g. Planning, Property Surveying, Technical Engineering, and with membership of a Professional Institute.
* A strong team player with the drive and tenacity to achieve the goals of the business.
* Articulate, clear and credible, and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Able to communicate with a wide range of people, build rapport and trust, and develop and maintain key contacts.
* Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills; a confident and professional networker.
* An innovative thinker, with the drive to seek out and pursue potential development opportunities.
* Knowledge and use of business contacts, the public sector being particularly relevant to this role.
* Excellent written and verbal skills.
