Main Duties of the Job
The main duties of this role are as follows:
* Delivering high-quality, reflective, engaging and stimulating training to internal and external learners.
* Teaching both face-to-face and virtually, using an online training portal for the latter.
* Assessing learners' progress using a variety of assessment methods.
* Ensuring that all customers, internally and externally, receive an excellent customer service experience.
* Supporting the verification process with accreditation bodies, such as Gateway and the Skills Education Group, for training delivered.

Job Responsibilities
As a Substance Misuse Trainer, in addition to the duties listed in the Job Overview, your responsibilities will include:
* Teaching a wide range of courses, from Level 1 to 3, as well as at Diploma level, including accredited and bespoke non-accredited courses.
* Providing an effective learning environment for all learners, incorporating varied learning styles and considering additional learning needs and/or disabilities.
* Motivating learners, enabling them to meet and exceed their potential.
* Assisting in developing new training programmes and other learning resources.
* Preparing and delivering training programmes for staff, internal and external learners, and service users.
* Working with the generis team to evaluate training programmes using feedback from employers, stakeholders, and learners.
* Conducting internal verifications and assessments, ensuring all documentation is complete and retained according to internal standards and those of the awarding bodies.
* Assisting in the accurate completion of documentation and preparing relevant information for internal/external audits.
As you acclimatise to your role, you will have regular one-to-one supervision sessions with your Line Manager to work on a personal training and development plan, in line with the ADS Career Map.
Additional Duties Outside of Training Include:
* Adhering to the ADS Equality and Diversity Policy.
* Ensuring compliance with ADS Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
* Taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of staff and learners during working hours.
* Familiarising yourself with the ADS Safeguarding Policy to promote the health and wellbeing of children, young people, and adults. You must know the signs and symptoms of abuse and what to do if concerns are raised.
* Keeping up to date with developments and new initiatives within health, social care, and substance misuse fields.
* Assisting in the development of new initiatives and ways of working.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Level 3 Education and Training (formerly PTLLS) or equivalent.
* Level 3 Tackling Substance Misuse or equivalent.
* GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
* Level 3 Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement or equivalent.

Experience
* Relevant experience in the substance misuse field, and knowledge of substances and their effects.
* Experience working with vulnerable people, with a commitment to safeguarding their health and wellbeing.
* Basic IT competency.
* Experience using Microsoft Office products, particularly PowerPoint.
* Experience using virtual platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, including presenting via these platforms.
* Knowledge and understanding of issues facing substance misusers.
* Experience in training delivery and development, including both accredited and bespoke courses.
* Experience in preparing and delivering training programmes, including dealing with challenging learners.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) will be necessary to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£25,397 to £30,991 a year. This pay range is pro rata and based on experience.
