A highly respected national law firm is seeking a Senior Construction Solicitor to join its expanding team in Guildford. This role is ideally suited to a Legal Director or Senior Associate with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience, particularly in non-contentious construction law.
The Role
The position offers the opportunity to work alongside nationally recognised partners on a wide range of construction and engineering projects. The successful candidate will advise clients on development and infrastructure matters, including the drafting and negotiation of construction contracts, consultant appointments, warranties, and ancillary documents.
In addition to handling complex legal work, the role will involve supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the team's business development and client care initiatives. Comprehensive ongoing training and career development support will also be provided.
The Team
The construction and engineering team operates nationally and is recognised for its expertise in both contentious and non-contentious work. Clients include:
* Major UK developers and housebuilders
* National and international contractors and consultants
* Local authorities, universities, and sports organisations
* Employers across the manufacturing, renewables, and process engineering sectors
The team regularly advises on high-value UK and international construction projects across residential, commercial, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' PQE, with a particular focus on non-contentious construction work. They will demonstrate:
* Strong knowledge of construction law, particularly JCT and NEC contract suites
* Excellent drafting and communication skills
* A commercial approach and ability to build lasting client relationships
* Confidence in leading on transactions and managing caseloads independently
