We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee Technical Support and Product Management at Kentec. This role is pivotal in identifying and implementing process improvements within these teams to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. As a key member of the senior management team, you will actively contribute to business planning, strategy development, and decision-making to ensure alignment with the company’s long-term objectives. About the Teams Product Management Team The Product Management Team is responsible for identifying gaps in Kentec’s product portfolio, analysing market trends, and evaluating competitor demands. This involves identifying and developing solutions—whether through internal product development, third-party partnerships, or OEM solutions. The team is also responsible for preparing business cases, return-on-investment analyses, and requirement specifications before product development. Additionally, they oversee product validation, documentation, commercialization, and post-release investigations. Technical Support Team The Technical Support Team provides first-line telephone and email support, remote and on-site training, and field support to all Kentec customers. They also manage Virtual Resource (Loop Explorer 2) accounts and facilitate warranty replacements for defective hardware. Key Responsibilities Product Management: Lead and manage the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to release and post-launch monitoring. Oversee the product obsolescence process, ensuring smooth transitions and minimizing disruption. Approve validation processes, ensuring products and updates align with technical requirements and industry approvals. Identify gaps in the product portfolio and provide strategic solutions through internal development, OEM partnerships, or third-party integrations. Develop business cases and requirement specifications for new product initiatives. Maintain regular communication with the Director of Sales to assess product performance and portfolio gaps. Liaise with third-party and OEM suppliers to expand and enhance the product offering. Communicate with the internal development team to ensure that products developed meet customer and business needs Support the Product Administration Team with cross-listing and customer-specific product projects. Manage and regularly review the Kentec price list, ensuring pricing strategies protect and optimize profit margins. Work closely with the Purchasing Department to ensure products meet current revision and quality requirements. Collaborate with the Global Product Management Team to propose solutions for international product portfolio gaps. Technical Support & Training: Ensure customers receive high-quality technical support and training through the Technical Support Team. Oversee the training program, ensuring that all training (both remote and on-site) meets customer and industry requirements. Strategic & Financial Management: Develop, manage, and maintain the departmental annual budget in alignment with business objectives. Ensure all departmental activities are in line with business strategy and objectives. Qualifications & Experience Required Higher National Diploma or Degree in Electronics / Engineering 10 years experience in the fire detection and alarm industry. 5 years experience in product management. Strong understanding of fire industry product standards and codes of practices, including EN54-2, EN54-4, BS5839-1 and BS7273-4 Proven leadership experience in engineering and customer support.
