The Solution Design Manager role within the Full-Service Commercial team is responsible for driving the development of select pitches, engaging with business unit (BU) partners to collect and collate relevant materials, creating client-facing content, and supporting special projects. Solution Design Managers are aligned to a Functional Lead, Go-to-Market, NOD, or a Special Project. The Managers are expected to devote at least 50% of their capacity supporting the area or Lead to which they are aligned. The remaining capacity should be spent on driving select pitches and follow-up activities, special projects, and personal development. Solution Design Managers are also responsible for supporting continuous improvement efforts in their aligned area, within cross-department workstreams, or on a special project.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
* Drive the development of select pitches to which the Senior Solution Design Manager is assigned as Senior Coordinator, including setting a development timeline, creating consistent BU-facing communications, facilitating BU meetings and subject matter expert (SME) interviews, ensuring multiple stakeholders are meeting multiple deadlines, and completing portions of the pitch that do not fall neatly within functional areas.
* Take detailed discussion notes and capture follow-up action items during client-facing pitches and meetings.
* Work closely with the Associate Director to drive development of any follow-up activities from initial pitch to SOW development. These activities can range from commercial plan activity and budget modifications to a series of in-depth client workshops.
* Design working session approaches, develop content, and facilitate working sessions as needed.
* Consolidate functional content into high-quality, client-facing materials for review by the Functional Lead and SDM, meeting all deadlines.
* Support the consolidation of solution budgets and pricing models including staffing plans within aligned Lead area. Support cross-functional budget consolidation or support adjustments to the functional budgets at the direction of the Lead and/or Associate Director.
* Support delivery initiatives as directed by the Lead or Associate Director.
* Storyboard content and develop client-facing content independently for review by the Lead or Associate Director.
* Provide ad-hoc support for special projects, including cross-department workstreams, while independently managing deadlines and competing commitments.
* Communicate detailed, appropriate direction to international support staff; effectively manage upward and amongst peers.
Required qualifications and experience
* Bachelor’s Degree
* Management consulting or services company experience (e.g., Consulting, Agency, CRO, CCO)
* High proficiency in MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
* Slide design and story boarding
* Excellent written and verbal Communication skills
* Strong self-awareness and emotional intelligence to effectively navigate a matrixed environment
* Ability to handle ambiguity and multiple concurrent assignments on short timelines
* Manages competing priorities and instructions
* Ability to travel as needed (~25%)
Preferred
* Master’s Degree (MBA, MPH, MHA)
* Positions in pharmaceutical industry boutique consulting firms or life science alignment in big consulting organization
* Advanced Excel (VBA modeling)
