Medical Education & Research Institute (MERI) is a non-profit organization which supports the advancement of medicine by providing bio-skills lab environments essential to medical and surgical training for healthcare professionals.
Our central U.S. location in Memphis, TN as well as our mobile support ability allow us to facilitate state-of-the-art, hands-on training and educational events for physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals from across the country and around the world. Our unique ability to coordinate all aspects of medical training is made possible in part by our exclusive partnership with the Genesis Legacy Whole Body Donation Foundation.
In order to better accommodate training in the evolving medical industry, we are currently expanding our event team. We are seeking individuals interested in an exciting opportunity to work with MERI's sponsor groups to support leading healthcare professionals and innovators on the cutting edge of medical science.
As a scheduler of our sponsored medical course events (Program Specialist), your role is to perform various functions involved with the details of planning these sponsored events. This includes direct communication and planning with our sponsor groups to ensure that the objectives of the events are met. This position will also provide administrative support for department management and event coordination teams when needed.
This position reports directly to the Education/Research Planning Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Direct communication with sponsor group contacts related to event scheduling
* Accurately schedule and record course/event information in scheduling database
* Maintain all information and detailed database records of sponsor events with accuracy
* Communicate corresponding event pricing details and options for prospective sponsored events
* Revise event details as needed in order to meet the sponsor objectives
* Arrange travel and accommodations of internal operational staff for off-site events
* Provide accurate internal correspondence related to event and billing reporting
* Perform any other related duties as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years professional experience and/or training in a related field; event planning and management, customer service, data processing, administrative support.
SKILLS:
* Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
* Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
* Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.
* Ability to fulfill all essential job functions as listed with or without reasonable accommodations.

SCHEDULE
Normal work schedule is 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Some OT and scheduling outside of these days/times may be required.
