FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT SANDIACRE, NG10 5AN COMPETITIVE SALARY Progress Rail is looking to recruit a Financial Accountant to assist in the provision of Financial Accounting services to both Progress Rail Services UK Ltd and Electro-Motive Diesel Ltd businesses including supporting on month end duties such as journals, overheads, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and VAT. This role offers the potential to transfer into a managerial position with direct report responsibilities in future. THE ROLE: The Financial Accountant will be responsible for: Provision of timely and accurate management information. Compliance with all SOX requirements and other regulatory requirements. Continuous improvement through analytical review of issues, development of solutions and deployment of solutions. Asset stewardship and effective use of resources. Ensuring business wide understanding of operational performance. Developing and supporting opportunities for business performance improvement and OPACC (Operating Profit after Capital Charge) improvement. Monthly preparation of journals around the areas of responsibility. Preparation of monthly VAT returns. Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting. Monthly reporting and analysis. SOX control management for areas of responsibility. Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and timely investigation of reconciling differences Preparation of National Statistics information. Assist in year-end reporting for statutory and tax purposes including DE, NL, BE, CR Branch accounts. Liaising with external company auditors ensuring all information is provided accurately and on time. Submission of company forecasts and budgets as required. THE CANDIDATE: The ideal Financial Accountant: Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ICAEW/ACCA). Minimum of 5 years finance experience. Ability to produce business cases/reports and lead business projects. Self-starter with proven ability to work on own initiative. Proactive approach to identification and resolution of improvement opportunities. Ability to deal with change and prioritise workload in a changing environment. Ability to understand the business strategy and make decisions within the context of the bigger picture. Excellent Communication skills. Experience of ERP systems, Microsoft Office packages, particularly excel. Experience of Microsoft Dynamics desired not essential. Numerate and articulate.
