Job overview
The post holder will provide leadership and have full managerial responsibility for the Division. They will be responsible for the delivery of operational and performance targets, the achievement of local and national standards, human resources, quality and governance targets and budgetary control. The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Medical Director and the Director of Performance to ensure optimum performance, service integration and contribute to the development of Trust services within the organisation and the local health economy.
Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for effective service delivery and development across a clinical division.
2. To deliver excellent levels of customer service to all patients/visitors/customers and staff at the Trust.
3. Provide strategic direction for the Divisional Management team and the Managers within the Division.
4. To support and develop the Trust culture of collaborative, flexible cross-team working and commitment to delivering quality services and outcomes.
5. Reporting to the Director of Operations & Performance, the Deputy Director of Operations & Performance will provide management and leadership for all staff within the Division and have prime responsibility for the delivery of an efficient and effective service.
6. Professionally accountable to the Director of Operations & Performance, the Deputy Director of Operations & Performance will provide assurance for the effective and efficient delivery of services within the division.

Qualifications
* Educated to degree level in a management or clinical professional subject
* Educated to a Masters level or relevant equivalent experience
* Evidence of recent professional and personal career development
Experience
* Detailed understanding and experience of the operation of an acute hospital services
* Proven ability to manage change, service activity and development within a large and complex organisation
* Ability to interpret national and local policy drivers that are relevant to the Division
* Experience of planning and implementing long-term strategy
* Experience of managing a large budget
* Experience of successful project management
* Detailed knowledge of Clinical Governance and risk management
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills together with influencing and negotiating skills for interacting with individuals across the organisation and conurbation
* Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions by determining key points from complex data and multiple information strands
* Proven ability to achieve targets and objectives within a demanding and pressured environment against challenging deadlines
* Ability to empower, coach and support staff
* Evidence of scientific publications, presentation of papers at conferences, seminars etc.
