What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Layout Designer to join the Technical Team. This role typically reports to the Design Manager.
The purpose of the role is to support the Technical / Design team to provide a practical and cost-effective design/layout service for the regional business.
The role will include:
1. Production of sketch and AutoCAD layouts for prospective sites efficiently and accurately so that the Management team and Group Design department can assess the viability and make necessary amendments.
2. Undertaking Technical due diligence to aid in the production of constraints plans prior to the commencement of estate layouts.
3. Preparing residential planning layouts with accompanying design statements for submission to the local Authority with accuracy to maintain the company view whilst accommodating the site constraints.
4. Fully understanding the relationships between Group portfolio house types and how the design and layout can be improved efficiently thus maximizing unit size and density, sales and turnover for the region.
5. Co-ordination of external architectural consultants should additional resource be required.
6. Supporting and co-ordinating the planning application packs with planning colleagues including, but not limited to: plans, elevations, design and access statements working cohesively to maintain a high standard of work and successful planning consents.
7. On occasion attending and promoting the plans at meetings with Planning Authorities and being able to sell your architectural vision effectively to gain confidence and agreement for the project.
8. On occasion to deputise for the Design Manager to provide support and assistance to the team.
What experience, qualifications and skills are we looking for?
1. Previous experience working on residential housing schemes, preferably for a residential developer.
2. AutoCAD technical skills are essential and some Photoshop and Sketch-up experience.
3. Ability to perform hand sketches for feasibility studies would be advantageous.
4. Ability to use your own initiative and work in a team.
