Job Title: Business Strategy Planning Manager
Location: United Kingdom (Homebased)
About the role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Business Strategy Planning Manager to work in the field of Regulatory Services (RS) and support us in our continuing growth. As an experienced Business Strategy Planning Manager, you will lead our work on new & emerging sector opportunities, supporting the team to build a strong and diverse future for the Regulatory Services unit.
This role requires a strong strategic mind and will work closely with the Strategy & Innovation Director and the Regulation & Policy Innovation Director to undertake key strategic projects to prioritise, investigate, analyse, and track opportunities across regulated sectors and geographical markets. Alongside our existing sectors, you will be tracking opportunities to move into new sectors and build on our services in existing markets/geographies. We are looking for a candidate who enjoys a fast-paced environment, with a proactive approach to seeking out new opportunities and who can collaborate with colleagues across RS and commercial teams to turn theoretical business development opportunities into viable services for clients.
In this role, we are also seeking a strong collaborator, a candidate who has an excellent track record in building strong & prosperous relationships across service providers, industry and government bodies. We are looking for a self-starter with excellent written, verbal and data presentation skills, and will work in collaboration with the rest of the Strategy and Innovation team to drive our strategy forward.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead the business development function within the Strategy and Innovation team.
2. Investigate, analyse and report business opportunities in new industry sectors. Communicating those opportunities to the Strategy and Innovation team as well senior leadership across BSI.
3. Contribute to strategy development and business planning.
4. Analyse Regulatory landscapes and associated markets to develop new business opportunities for Regulatory Services.
5. Work closely with existing business units to identify new opportunities in existing sectors covered by Regulatory Services.
6. Lead primary and secondary customer research.
7. Horizon scanning of use cases in different industries, standards and legislation applicability and opportunities for BSI. Developing clear business cases and proof of concepts in these emerging areas.
8. Align with other streams across BSI to ensure there is a coherent strategy for industry sectors, particularly with a focus on sustainability and innovation.
9. Work in collaboration with the marketing and product management teams to develop and execute the business plan to achieve the agreed goals.
10. Build strong relationships in the markets identified to build awareness of BSIs offerings in this space. Supporting the operational teams to implement and deliver new products to our clients.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
11. At least 5 years’ experience in business development, with a strong skillset in data analysis, Strategic Analysis, KPIs & Operational Analysis.
12. Experience in leading and developing strategic options and the supporting KPIs to achieve sustainable and profitable growth, translating business objectives into clear deliverables.
13. Previous experience in developing and providing analysis outputs on new commercial opportunities, anticipating trends and recognising business opportunities.
14. Conceptual and analytical thinking, efficiency, and results orientation, developing strategies in a well-planned and organised manner.
15. Strong business acumen - Understands interdependencies that affect business results (e.g. revenue, expenses, and margin).
16. BS/BA degree, with relevant job experience
17. Team player, good at relationship building internally and externally
18. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, internally and externally and at junior and senior levels
19. Proactive, self-motivated and results-orientated
20. Customer orientated with a focus on efficiency and delivery
21. Conceptual & strategic thinker
22. Versatility to grow with the developing business and take on wider roles and responsibilities
