It serves a much larger population, 1.5m for burns and plastic services and 14m for spinal injuries.
Job overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified band 5 nurse to join the ward team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. We are a general medical ward as well as a medical day unit which runs multiple clinics including IBD, MS, Gastro and endocrine and discharge lounge.
We are currently seeking high calibre staff nurses, who are keen, passionate and motivated individuals to join our busy unit which provides a high standard of patient care and values the 'personal touch' to create the best environment for patient recovery.
Key responsibilities
* Acts at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, and within the principles of the scope of Professional Practice.
* Maintain professional working relationships with all members of the cardiac team and effectively contribute to the team’s continual development.
* Provide nursing assistance to the Medical Team during procedures and investigations.
* Undertakes the nursing assessment of the patient including risk assessments e.g. Tissue viability, moving and handling and nutrition.
* Devise a plan of nursing care based on the nursing assessment, taking into account the medical prescription.
* Ensures planned nursing care is delivered safely and effectively taking into account the views of the patient and their relatives.
* Advise on health promotion and the prevention of illness.
* Maintains absolute confidentiality in respect of all medical and nursing records and interpersonal issues with colleagues.
* Interpret the significance of the patient’s clinical observations and records and take appropriate action while ensuring senior nursing staff are kept informed.

* Evidence of further continued professional development
* First Line Management Course
Experience

* Experience of teaching students, HCA’s and qualified staff
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

* Previous experience as shift/team leader
