You became an ECC Veterinary Surgeon so you could change the lives of pets and their owners. We share that calling. But we also understand that to be at your best for your patients, you need support, work-life balance and opportunities for growth. We believe that every veterinary professional should feel part of a community that builds them up, connects them with their passion and helps them thrive. That’s why we built South Downs Emergency Vets. Together, we’re ‘more than a vets’. We’re proudly independent, and the freedom that this brings sets us apart. Clinical freedom; freedom to deliver care with a personal touch; freedom to do what’s right.
Be (truly) valued
We’re constructive, encouraging, and kind to one another – always. Inclusivity and collaboration ensure everyone feels respected and valued. The equality, kindness and closeness that unites our team shapes our work; we treat our clients with respect, kindness, empathy, and professionalism.
Feel the difference
We work from two state-of-the-art hospitals (Storrington and Chichester) alongside our sister businesses, Arun Veterinary Group and South Downs Veterinary Referrals. Our day service offers services from our four branch clinics (Worthing, Ashington, Pulborough and Westergate) and we work collaboratively to deliver exceptional, personalised care to our patients 24/7.
The interior design in our clinics provides a warm, comforting, home-from-home feeling. It’s hard to put into words, but you’ll feel the difference as soon as you walk through the door.
You’ll be involved in first opinion and emergency critical care, including medical and surgical cases, advanced diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation. This gives you the opportunity to grow and master your areas of special interest.
We understand that our team is what makes South Downs Emergency Vets great. Whether your interest is in clinical specialism, gaining a certificate, building leadership skills, or something else entirely, we’re committed to nurturing your talents.
About you
You’ll be an experienced ECC Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS), with a valid driving licence. You’ll have an interest and previous experience in emergency and critical care.
Most importantly, you’ll share and demonstrate our values. These are humility, respect, empathy, work ethic, honesty, communication, and teamwork.
Your benefits will include generously funded CPD (Certificate funding available); standard pension benefit; 40% staff discount for own pets; enhanced parental leave (6 months paid at 90%); enhanced sickness benefit (2 weeks at 100%); generous holiday (7 weeks, including bank holidays) and occupational health resources, including mental health support.
