Job Title: Personal Development Manager

The primary purpose of this job role is to manage the teams associated with student personal development, providing a consistent excellent service to all stakeholders, leading to successful student progression and post-college destinations.
Lead on the consistency and development of the centralised Personal Development Provision at the college, including Personal Development Portfolio, Student Voice, Students’ Union Executives, Personal Development Coaches, the Enrichment Officer, and Learning Resource Centres.
Areas of Responsibility:
* Lead on the creation and development of the annual Personal Development Calendar in collaboration with the Director of Student Services to ensure that topics are covered in a timely manner.
* Lead on the creation, development, and consistency of the Digital Tutorial content (TMail) including, but not limited to, the core Personal Development areas, in collaboration with the curriculum and quality teams.
* Develop training for Tutors on TMail topics and other elements of personal development delivery where they may require additional support/coaching prior to delivery.
* Contribute to the Student Induction Programme to ensure an excellent student experience, in collaboration with the Director of Student Services.
* Develop mechanisms to regularly assess the views of students towards their personal development education including TMail content.
* In collaboration with the Director of Student Services and the eLearning Team, lead on the development of online environments which provide suitable, clear and accessible resources to students that can be utilised as part of their core learning aim or wider study programme, supporting effective teaching, learning, and assessment, covering all areas of Personal Development, Behaviour, and Welfare as laid out in the Ofsted Framework.
* Lead on the student-led cross-college enterprise project (Big Bid) providing opportunities for students to engage in activities to develop their entrepreneurial and enterprise skills.
* Lead on the co-ordination and development of a cross-college enrichment offer, monitor student and apprentice engagement, and increase participation.
* Lead on the delivery of the College Freshers’ Fair and other cross-college events relating to Personal Development.
* Lead on the face-to-face elements of Student Voice, including identification and training/support for student representatives and delivery of Department Boards and contribution to the Student Conference.
* Manage the Students’ Union Executives, including student voice and enrichment initiatives.
* Lead and chair the sub-committee of the College Environment & Sustainability Group (Student Awareness & Engagement Group), focusing on student participation, including overseeing the Student Eco-Council.
* Manage the Pastoral Support Coordinator, predominantly focused on EHCP and high needs students studying vocational courses at college.
* Manage the Personal Development Coaches.
* Lead on the Personal Development Portfolio ensuring that all students have the opportunity to develop core employability skills; measure their progress and develop recognition for their success.
* Lead and manage the Learning Resource Centre teams at both campuses. Develop current provision in line with student feedback.
* Ensure mechanisms are in place to monitor and evaluate the engagement and impact of all activities.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Challenge anyone who is on College property (staff, learners, visitors) who may be acting suspiciously to ensure they have a legitimate reason to be on site, and to request appropriate ID, immediately reporting concerns.
* Remain alert to any Health & Safety issues and provide resolution assistance to the College Health & Safety Officer if required.
* Liaise with the College’s Student Liaison Team regarding issues relating to inappropriate student behaviour and welfare.
People Management:
To undertake line management responsibility including performance, holiday and sickness reporting, 1:1s, appraisals, and probation reviews for:
* PD Coaches
* PD Coach and Enrichment Officer
* LRC Team
* Gym Supervisor
* Pastoral Support Coordinator
* Be a proactive line manager and a role model for staff.
* Manage and supervise workloads of the team.
* Recruit and appoint staff and ensure that all new staff have a timely and full corporate and area induction.
* Manage the performance of staff effectively, ensuring that all staff have appraisals and probation reviews with targets and measurable outcomes. Where appropriate, ensure performance improvement plans are in place.
* Meet individual staff regularly throughout the year to review progress and take immediate action if performance is not satisfactory.
* Ensure that all staff have the required experience and qualifications for their roles and that everyone has an annual training and development plan that is linked to department needs and the College’s strategic aims.
* Meet regularly as a team to discuss operational and College matters.
* Ensure that College employment policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff.

Salary: (to be pro rated if part-time) £38,601 - £39,190

Qualifications A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
Evidence of continuous professional development.

Good basic knowledge of IT packages.
