Provide professional clinical leadership, working in collaboration with the appropriate multidisciplinary groups to meet the physical health needs of patients within the adult and older adult inpatient wards. Provide specialist evidenced-based knowledge and clinical skills to the staff and patients within the service to ensure that the physical health and well-being needs of individuals are met. Lead on the strategic development and delivery of health promotion and physical health care within the service.
Develop and deliver, alongside the clinical practice educators, training on physical health and health promotion to clinicians within the service as required. Develop and maintain good links with other services, such as physiotherapy as required. Work collaboratively with other clinical nurse leads for physical health within the trust. Contribute to advanced practice initiatives in nursing by contributing to education and training with links with the learning and development department and higher education establishments.
Provide professional and managerial supervision to other physical health nursing roles and managerial supervision to other health professionals working within the physical health team. Provide leadership to a team of physical health leads within each ward. Lead on clinical audit in relation to physical health. Contribute to research as required. Give advice, guidance, and provide interventions for patients with complex physical health needs.
Provide assurance that patients in the service have equitable access to NHS screening processes as those in the community.
