Band 6 Occupational Therapist Central Surrey Health Walton/Woking Community Hospital, Inpatient Therapies Hourly Rate: £25.67 Monday - Friday 08.00-16.00 (hours can be flexible) The Inpatient Rehabilitation team are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join their MDT to undertake advanced assessments and treatment of patients. These patients often have complex and / or chronic presentations. It will be your duty to ensure that the individuals full potential and functional independence is developed or maintained. You will work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a significant specialist clinical caseload, working without direct supervision but access to a Team Lead OT is available if required and clinical work is not routinely evaluated. Some of the main responsibilities of this role include the following: · To communicate effectively with all disciplines involved in a patients care, both those from within the organisation and those outside to ensure effective multidisciplinary working. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement in discharge planning. · To achieve and maintain a high standard of clinical intervention and professional development using evidence-based practice CPD and appraisal. · To manage patients who may be occasionally aggressive or confused. · To be able to manage potentially stressful, upsetting, or emotional situations in an empathetic manner. · To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multipathologies. · To understand the underlying cause of difficulties with clients who have specific needs and utilise strategies for managing challenging behaviours and communication with supervision.
