There is a rare opportunity for a Lead Engineering Manager role within the Onshore Project Engineering team. This leadership role will inspire and guide regional multidisciplinary project engineering teams, working collaboratively to support the development and delivery of a wide array of electricity transmission projects. These initiatives will contribute to the expansive growth within our network and play a crucial role in driving our transition towards Net Zero, fostering a sustainable and inclusive future for all.
You will
- Manage and develop a team of Engineering Managers and Senior Engineers, as well as support the broader regional project engineering team, to deliver innovative and value adding engineering solutions across a portfolio of development and delivery projects over £1bn in value.
- Foster a culture of personal development and high performance to empower Managers and multidisciplinary Engineers to reach their potential and drive strategic improvements, accelerating network growth for new renewable generation in the North of Scotland.
- Guide a team to diligently manage engineering risks and maximise opportunities to deliver value for money to the consumer and ensure that suitably skilled resources, both internal and external, are available to maintain or accelerate programme dates.
- Promote and manage safety in design with particular focus on continual improvement in parallel with ensuring compliance to relevant legislation and effective delivery of CDM Principal Designer and Designer roles.
Proven experience in leading, nurturing, and empowering high-performing engineering teams, with a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
- A qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally as a Fellow or Chartered Engineer, with extensive experience in a similar environment. Most importantly, a strong ability to foster collaborative and thoughtful problem-solving in addressing engineering challenges.
- Proven experience in managing all stages of engineering design, from feasibility studies and detailed design to implementation and final delivery.
- Relevant technical and commercial knowledge of the Electrical Transmission sector.
- Strong communication skills. As you'll be working with a diverse group of people, it's important to communicate expectations clearly to your team, simplify complex and technical information for other stakeholders, and build strong relationships by negotiating and influencing with empathy and confidence at all levels.
