We have a new opening for a Facilities Assistant to join our Campus Services division, part of Cambridge Education Group About the role The Facilities Assistant is responsible for providing customer focused facilities, IT and premises services and support. Working across CEG’s London managed campuses they will help to ensure a secure, well maintained and friendly environment for staff, students and visitors. The role requires that the post holder has a flexible approach as they may be required at short notice and on some occasions within the same day to move between CEG managed campuses to ensure operational requirements are maintained. The role is on a full-time, permanent basis with the location in London, United Kingdom. As part of this role, it will be required to travel between both Campus Services locations in London. Other activities as a Facilities Assistant: Ensure that Campus premises are maintained in a safe and tidy condition by ensuring that staircases, circulation routes, receptions, corridors, pavements, access points, exit points, delivery and evacuation areas are always kept clear of obstructions and litter. This will include carrying our daily visual checks and regular risk assessments. Undertake regular premises audits/inspections (to include AV, IT, lighting, heating, fire extinguishers, safety system checks, meter readings etc), reporting the findings to the Campus Manager and Head of Estates and Facilities. Carry out reactive and planned maintenance tasks, liaising with the Head of Estates and Facilities and contractors where necessary. Oversee the management of service providers and contractors. This includes arranging work permits / access and ensuring receipt of risk assessments and method statements where appropriate. Provide AV and tech support to stakeholders. Liaise with University and CEG IT departments where necessary. Provide basic IT support to stakeholders, escalating to the University IT team and CEG IT team where appropriate. Maintain relevant compliance records, flagging any concerns to the Campus Manager and Head of Estates and Facilities. Act as the main point of contact with building site services and security teams. Provide support and assistance where required. Facilitate room furniture layouts and AV requests ensuring they are delivered in accordance with the stakeholder requirements. Receive and store securely all lost property and maintain the lost property register. Manage local security arrangements including overseeing access control systems ensuring that computer systems are well maintained, and card allocation is effectively monitored. Ensure issues are reported to the Campus Manager and building security team. Aspects we will be looking for: Demonstrable knowledge and experience of facilities services, security and basic IT support operations in a busy environment. Experience of completing regular manual handling tasks which include portering, post, parcels and furniture moves. Experience in completing building audits such as health and safety, lighting, heating, fire extinguishers, safety system checks, meter readings etc. Practical working knowledge of Jira Helpdesk such as logging work requests and reporting faults and the completion of jobs within the system. Experienced in providing a responsive, positive and professional customer service experience and attention to detail. Competent in the use of Microsoft 365 including Teams, Word, Excel, OneDrive and SharePoint. Knowledge of Microsoft Planner is desirable Competent in writing emails with a good command of English language/grammar. Competent to assess risk and contribute to the creation of risk assessment.
