We have a brilliant opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a great team in Birmingham within a Developer that specialise in Student Accommodation and BTR schemes, In addition to supporting with all commercial activities on site, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the design team and the construction team to monitor build costs against the programme. This will also include reporting into their senior surveyor any risks, budget variances and prelim strategies to monitor against the programme completion dates and overall construction budget. Duties Assisting Quantity Surveyors at Project and Senior level throughout their day-to-day activities. Being involved in the detailed review, analysis and monitoring of the procurement and construction budget for the construction team and specialist subcontractors as well as the design delivery programmes of the design teams. Assisting with monitoring overall construction costs and site progress against reported programme and report any cost implications monthly. Being site and/or office based and attending meetings with the site team and subcontractors as necessary. Assisting with producing monthly valuations in liaison with the Project / Senior Surveyor regarding progress on site against the contract sum analysis. Assisting with providing accurate support for costing and preparation of budgets. Assisting with variations and instructions. Assisting with budget control throughout development. Assist the Project/Senior quantity surveyor with taking off quantities from drawings for procurement and pricing variations. Assist with costing and invoicing for client variations as well as tracking client extras spreadsheet. Assisting with the preparation of monthly progress valuations. Assisting with main contract and subcontract preparation reviews. Attending design team meetings and constantly striving to assist with value engineering opportunities where possible. Assisting with executing payments to subcontractors in line with the contractual requirements. Requirements HNC or Degree qualified is preferred Knowledge of tendering and procurement. Some knowledge of contract administration and the different forms of contract. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications and payment software systems
