The Director of Community Engagement position is a full-time, exempt role primarily responsible for the grants process and significant planning and production of communications and fund development activities. This person reports to and collaborates with the Executive Director.
This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and multi-tasking capabilities. Community Engagement related to grants involves working with local non-profit organizations throughout the application process and engaging with volunteers. Responsibilities include phone calls, emails, tracking applications using the online portal, and conducting site visits. Communications and development are integral to supporting local organizations and leaders.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Community Engagement:
1. Build relationships with community members and leaders to promote health equity in the region.
2. Implement a community grants process aligned with Green Tree’s strategic plan, incorporating a trust-based philanthropy model.
3. Incorporate grantee feedback into the grants process.
4. Manage site visits, oversee the grants database, and create reports for the Board and auditors.
Communications and Development:
1. Promote narratives that affirm the leadership of existing community leaders and support community-led efforts.
2. Increase awareness of health equity issues in the communities served through e-blasts, newsletters, etc.
3. Perform administrative tasks such as donor acknowledgment letters, CRM data entry, and event promotion.

Professional Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; experience in social work or public health preferred.
2. A minimum of five years of professional experience.
3. Nonprofit or foundation experience preferred.
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
5. Familiarity with Network for Good and Foundant (grants management) database management is a plus.
