Our Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships Our apprenticeships allow you to study for industry-recognised qualifications whilst earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a university, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on. A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development. Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships have a typical duration of 3– 6 years, during which you will attain both a professional and academic qualification to further your career. Our apprentices are employed on a permanent basis, so you'll continue to progress with Arup once you've completed your course. The Opportunity Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships are available in Birmingham in the following areas: Fire Engineering: As an Apprentice Fire Safety Engineer, with Arup you will develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours in the following areas (as well as many others): Understanding the first principles of fire engineering including: fire dynamics, smoke dynamics, heat transfer, human behaviour, psychological impact of fire on humans, physiological impacts of fire (tenability), combustion process, products of combustion, structural response and how they are used. Application of the legal and regulatory frameworks, statutory guidance and British and European Standard guidance in the context of fire engineering. Assessing and evaluating fire engineering solutions, systems, products and processes throughout the life the cycle of a project including design, construction and occupation. These competencies will be developed through practical on-the-job training, working with experienced fire engineers and other professionals across the business, and classroom-based training with Arup and at university - following an apprenticeship pathway to an undergraduate degree in Fire Engineering. Digital & Technology Solutions (Software Development): We are looking for a Digital & Technology Solutions Professional Apprentice to join our growing team developing the Oasys Suite software. From your first day you will join a growing community of software developers, where everyone is supported in their career path. You will help us to design and code features for our software programmes PRIMER, D3PLOT, T/HIS and REPORTER, which are used by engineers around the world to prepare LS-DYNA finite element models for analysis and to post-process the results, enabling them to analyse complex problems such as vehicle crash tests. As a Digital & Technology Solutions Professional Apprentice, you will work within the Oasys LS-DYNA team. You will have an opportunity to design and code new features, maintain code for our existing features, write automated tests for your code, provide technical support to customers and carry out release tasks from quality assurance to documentation. The code you write will have a real-world impact in the automotive, aerospace, nuclear and civil engineering industries. Digital Technology Solutions Professional - Network Engineer (Digital Advisory) : As a Level 6 Degree Apprentice Telecoms Engineer, you will work on the design and specification of ICT systems and services for the built environment. You will be working closely with and providing technical support to our engineers and consultants in carrying out design work according to the client requirements. In addition to design, this role will also include ICT space planning, ICT appraisal and overseeing the installation and bringing into service of ICT which will typically include: Physical infrastructure (e.g. ICT rooms, routes and risers) and Cabling (e.g. copper and fibre) Local Area Networks (LANs) Wireless LANs Telephony Systems Television Distribution Systems (Terrestrial, Satellite and IP) Private Mobile Radio Systems Cellular Enhancement Systems e.g. DAS and Small Cells Cyber Security This apprenticeship leads to a BSc Digital and Technology Solutions Degree (Network Engineer Pathway). From your first day you'll join a community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards an accredited qualification. You will be assigned a mentor within your team to ensure a smooth transition into the working environment. You will work and liaise closely with them in your day-to-day work. Project Manager: Right now, we are looking for an Apprentice Project Manager to join our project management team in Birmingham. From your first day, you will join an unrivalled community of project managers and advisory consultants, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards an accredited qualification. We have a highly successful Programme and Project Management group, which offers our project managers the opportunity to work on some of the most prestigious and high profiled projects in the Midlands. Our clients come from a range of sectors, with a strong focus on social infrastructure and sustainability. Our project managers work within the Midlands region, but also support assignments nationally and internationally. The role will be based in our new central Birmingham office. You should be able to commute into central Birmingham on a regular basis. As an Apprentice, Arup will develop your competencies in the following areas: Assist project managers in the scope development of projects and strategies for implementation. Assisting in the development of work tenders, assessment of and making recommendations for appointment to clients. Monitoring and checking works on site. Assisting a team of project managers with the day-to-day management of projects including quality control, document control and general administration. Assisting project managers with design coordination. Distributing information accurately and securely to required internal and external recipients within a project team, We are looking for candidates with three or more A Levels at Grade B or above, or equivalent, or a BTEC Level 3, in relevant subjects STEM subjects such as Computer Science, ICT or Maths. In addition, you should have achieved a Grade B/5 or above in English, Science and Maths GCSE, or equivalent qualification. Is this role right for you?
