The Opportunity
After a period of sustained growth in service offerings and markets, the business is now looking for a Head of Business Development to build on our excellent reputation and make the most of our wide-ranging relationships and help forge new ones. This is a fantastic opportunity for self-starters to join a growing company and have a key role in shaping the direction of the business.
The ideal candidate will be a results-driven leader with a proven track record in business growth, strategic partnerships, and driving revenue within a consultancy environment.
Requirements:
Business Growth & Strategy Development:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
2. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, markets, and revenue streams.
3. Drive the company’s growth by identifying new potential clients, fostering strategic partnerships, and increasing market share.
Client Relationship Management:
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers.
2. Understand client needs and offer tailored solutions to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
3. Serve as the primary point of contact for new and existing clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
Market Research & Industry Trends:
1. Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitors, and market conditions.
2. Stay up to date with industry developments and technological advancements to help refine our service offering and propose the right solutions to clients.
Leadership & Team Management:
1. Support and develop Market and Service Leads to meet company targets and growth objectives.
2. Provide guidance and training on best practices for sales processes, client management, and negotiation techniques.
3. Lead, contribute to and oversee the preparation of proposals, presentations, and bids in response to client requests.
4. Manage the negotiation of contracts and close business deals, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Revenue & Performance Metrics:
1. Set and achieve revenue growth targets through business development efforts.
2. Provide regular reports on business development activities, sales pipeline, and performance to the company.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
1. Identify the need for and lead marketing campaigns and development of materials that highlight the company’s strengths and capabilities.
2. Work closely with our teams to ensure high quality execution of projects post-contract award.
Required Skills:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
2. Significant experience in a business development, sales, or a similar leadership role, with a strong focus on the consultancy sector.
3. Proven success in driving business growth, securing large contracts, and expanding client bases within markets relevant to Occam Group.
4. Significant experience in at least one of our core sectors: Defence, Nuclear or Transport.
5. Established senior contacts in the relevant client base.
