Purpose The SOC Coordinator is responsible for leveraging data mining tools and methodologies to identify security risks, investigate incidents, and provide actionable intelligence to support decision-making and loss prevention strategies. The role ensures efficient monitoring, investigation, and reporting to mitigate risks and enhance the overall security posture of the business. Key Responsibilities Data Mining and Analysis Utilise advanced data mining tools and techniques to analyse large datasets, identifying trends, anomalies, and potential security risks. Develop automated processes for detecting malicious activity, such as fraud, theft, or policy violations via relevant system (Appriss). Collaborate with stakeholders to interpret findings and prioritise action plans based on risk. Investigation Support and Production Analyse data to support ongoing investigations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of information. Produce comprehensive investigation reports, including detailed information to hand over to relevant stakeholder based on risk rating process of investigation cases (Retail or LP Field manager). Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies, such as law enforcement, to provide actionable intelligence for resolving incidents. Real-Time Monitoring and Threat Detection Oversee real-time monitoring of security systems and business operations to identify and respond to threats proactively. Escalate critical findings to relevant stakeholders, ensuring swift action to mitigate risks. Maintain up-to-date protocols for detecting and addressing emerging threats in the retail environment. Reporting and Insight Generate regular ad hoc reports on security trends, risks, and incidents for senior leadership and stakeholders. Present actionable insights and recommendations to inform strategic decisions and operational improvements. Ensure all reports are accurate, concise, and aligned with corporate objectives. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to enhance data mining and investigative processes, implementing innovative solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data analysis and investigation workflows. Train team members on best practices in data mining and investigation techniques. Essential Skills and Requirements Technical Expertise Proficiency in data mining tools and software, such as databricks, Appriss 5, Power BI, or other analytics platforms. Strong understanding of investigative methodologies and intelligence-gathering techniques. Familiarity with security systems and incident management tools. Analytical Skills Ability to analyse large datasets and extract meaningful insights to inform decision-making. Skilled in identifying patterns, anomalies, and potential risks within data. Communication and Reporting Strong written and verbal communication skills for producing clear, actionable reports. Ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences effectively.
