About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Senior HVAC Engineer to join our Decommissioning Projects business. This role will be based in Birchwood, Warrington, Harwell, Oxfordshire or Scrabster, Caithness, but other locations are willingly considered.The Decommissioning business provides an exciting mixture of consultancy, engineering and project management support, along with delivery of challenging decommissioning related EPC projects, to major clients in the UK across both the civil nuclear and defence industries, including Dounreay, Sellafield Limited, Urenco and Magnox. Overseas, we are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe including projects for clients in Central & Eastern Europe and Japan.
We are very proud to have supported these clients for many years, and our partnering arrangements will enable us to sustain and enhance this support in the long-term. We also deliver a number of projects for other private companies and academia needing decommissioning solutions.
You will understand the importance of radiological ventilation systems and will be responsible for the design and implementation of HVAC and Building Services systems including design studies, optioneering, scheme and detail design. Tasks will include the preparation of design basis documents, ventilation flow sheets, calculations, equipment/ductwork sizing, containment systems design, cascaded building ventilation design, specification writing and engineering substantiation. You will also be responsible for taking these designs forward to manufacture, installation and commissioning stages to provide defined outcomes for our customers.
Your responsibilities will be supporting various and diverse nuclear clients providing Front End Engineering Design through to full life cycle project requirements including:
1. Waste retrieval and treatment
2. POCO (Post Operation Clean Out)
3. Fuel and packaging
4. Technical assessment
5. Key discipline contributor in Feasibility and Optioneering Studies.
Here's What You'll Need:
6. Ideally you will hold a Degree, be a member of CIBSE and/or a Chartered Engineer or alternatively have extensive demonstrable experience in the nuclear field.
7. Appropriate demonstrable experience in delivering HVAC design in the nuclear sector.
8. Knowledge & experience in the design and substantiation of nuclear ventilation systems.
9. Knowledge of nuclear standards and site procedures.
10. Experience in the production of ventilation system design deliverables, i.e. Ventilation Flow Diagrams (VFDs), Basis of Design (BoD), Plant Sizing Calculations (Heating/Cooling/Fan Sizing), Control Philosophy
11. Experience in the delivery of Equipment Specifications, Design Reports, Manufacturing specifications and commissioning procedures.
12. Experience in the production of CDM documentation such as Design Risk Assessments, Residual Risk Registers and Outline Installation Method Statements
13. Knowledge of ductwork design, specification and installation.
14. Able to produce and check psychometric calculations.
15. Experience in the use of industry standard software such as Hevacomp and Pipenet is preferable.
16. An understanding of Autocad packages and its capabilities.
17. Ability to manage their own time effectively to ensure tasks are delivered to budget and timescale.
