Adderley Green Medical Services is looking to recruit to our reception & administration teams. The role is full time; however, we may consider part time or job share - working across our Meir & Longton practice sites.
It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has some flexibility to provide additional cover during periods of holiday or sickness.
We are looking for confident and self-motivated persons, who have good communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to work well in a sometimes pressurised environment.
We are looking for staff who have previous experience in a General Practice setting, and on-going training will be provided to suitable candidates. Strong IT skills will be required and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Our clinical system is Emis Web.
Main duties of the job
To receive, assist and navigate patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way, and provide general administrative assistance to the practice team, whilst projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Job responsibilities
1. Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols.
2. Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
3. Deal with all general enquiries efficiently and courteously.
4. Using your own judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultations are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
5. Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover.
6. Processing telephone requests, in-person requests for appointments, visits, telephone consultations, online consultations.
7. Take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
8. Enter requests for home visits onto the computer system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details.
9. Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours.
10. Print blood forms.
11. Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment, and issue receipts.
12. Invite patients to attend for screening appointments.
13. Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
14. Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information.
15. Assist in promoting and maintaining health, safety, and security as defined in the Practice Health and Safety Policy.

Qualifications
* Good standard of general education.
* GCSE Mathematics C or above.
* GCSE English C or above.
Experience
* Experience of working with the general public.
* Experience of reception & administration work.
* Experience of working within General Practice.
Skills
* Excellent communication and telephone skills.
