Orchid Ward in Prospect Park Hospital is acute admission mental health ward for Older Adults in acute phase of the functional mental illness like: bipolar affective disorder, depression and psychosis. The hospital is in Reading, located close to the amenities of the town centre with good public transport connections and on-site parking. The hospital has combined; acute mental health, learning disability and community health inpatient wards.
The ethos of Orchid Ward is to work closely with patients and their families, to support their identified needs and planning the recovery from the early onset. The Orchid Ward is participating in national of The Culture of Care agenda aiming to Improve the person experience, including lived experience involvement to enable a place of healing, where people can start the road to recovery by maintaining dignity and re-establishing purpose on their lives.
With previous experience or desire to develop leadership skills and having excellent communication and people skills, you will participate in leading the operational day to day work, deputising the ward manager as and when needed. You will deliver supervision to junior staff and participate and deliver in quality improvement process and actively participate in training on students to create a good placement experience.
• You will already have substantial experience of working as amental health nurse inacute setting with the ability to supervise and coach junior staff.
• You will have a passion for develop your leadership skills and to have wider range of responsibilities to develop your skillset further.
• You have a passion for caring, a warm personality, wanting to be part of a teamand the resilience to help us transform our patients’ lives.
• Withgreat communicationand people skills, you will ensure that patient dignity is alwaysmaintained.

The “must haves” for this role:
• Registered RMN/RGN qualification approved by NMC.
• Previous minimum of 2 years’ experience working as qualified nurse.
• Fully IT literate
• Ability to lead and work in a stressful environment.
