The Project Engineer is pivotal to our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The role will conduct thorough site analyses, ensure high standards of field service operations, represent the company in technical client meetings, and manage escalated incidents. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
What You'll Be Doing -
Technical reviews
1. Conduct in-depth analysis of escalated sites using various databases and technologies to identify resolution paths.
2. Compile comprehensive site lists and evidence files for client submission.
3. Liaise internally and externally to maintain effective technical responses and actions for any issues raised, reviews, or investigations.
4. Perform detailed technical reviews of any elements of the Project/Fleet as raised by internal departments, management, or clients.
5. Line manager responsibility of field services installation and maintenance teams.
6. Ensure high standards in field activities, including new installations and maintenance activities.
7. Conduct field audits to verify compliance with standards.
8. Ensure all health and safety standards are met in the field, including PPE standards, working in the highway, and other essential H&S protocols.
9. Contribute to continuous improvement in field operations.
Customer management
1. Act as the technical representative for projects, representing Detectronic/Adler Allan.
2. Liaise with clients on technical and maintenance activities, working towards resolutions.
3. Collaborate with internal and external entities on future-proofing, delivery, installation, testing, and acceptance of new designs and technologies.
4. Attend contract performance meetings.
Operational support
1. Provide support to crews needing on-site assistance or advice regarding their assignments.
2. Create Policy, Plans, and Process documentation to guide operational activities.
3. Serve as the company representative for second-line major incident escalation, managing all actions in accordance with established processes.
4. Support planning and data team representatives to ensure the client receives the best possible service.
5. Provide analysis of aborted jobs to help drive continuous improvement in this area, spotting trends and root causes.
6. Collate and provide evidence packs of sites for review to be added to the exhausted list.
7. Drive performance with crew with a focus on ensuring KPI's are met including no Fixed Penalty Notices on TM, no missed appointments or missed TM related works.
8. Produce relevant documentation for process improvements.
9. Ensure all crew have the kit and equipment they require each time they visit a site to encourage a right first time approach.
10. Promote Quality and efficiency within the teams they manage.
What You'll Need To Bring -
About you:
1. Engineering competency.
2. Knowledge of the water sector is essential.
3. Experience in managing field and desk-based operatives and leadership teams.
4. Possession of a clean UK driving licence and Right to work in the UK.
5. Proven track record of technical delivery.
6. Ability to manage and influence a skilled multidisciplinary team.
7. Ability to create bespoke solutions based on customer needs.
8. PC based IT skills - Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
9. Strong planning and presentation skills.
10. Tenacity, durability and able to demonstrate resilience with a positive attitude to change.
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
12. High level of organisational skills.
