Description DP World are recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team at our London Gateway port at Stanford-le-Hope. The Health & Safety Advisor for Logistics Park & Projects, will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving health and safety practices across logistics operations, projects, and construction sites at London Gateway. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting best practice, and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained. You will also be expected to be proficient with IT systems to help manage and track health and safety activities and data within corporate systems. In addition to your core responsibilities, you will assist the Compliance, Contractor Management & Permits Specialist (CCMPS) team and provide hands-on support to the Lockout/Tagout Officer. How you will contribute Ensure health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations are effectively implemented and followed across all logistics operations, project, and construction sites. Conduct safety inspections, audits, and site visits to support logistics, projects, and construction teams with a focus on identifying hazards and potential risk. Ensure full compliance with company and legal safety standards. Collaborate with these teams to identify risks and create action plans to mitigate or eliminate them, ensuring safety measures are appropriately applied and embedded. Assist in delivering safety training programs for employees, contractors, and site workers. Promote a culture of safety by conducting toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inductions to ensure all workers are equipped with the knowledge to work safely. Use IT systems and reporting tools to track and analyse safety performance, incidents, near misses, and audits. Prepare reports and provide insights to Logistics, Projects, and Construction teams, recommending corrective actions where necessary to improve safety outcomes. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and working with teams to implement corrective actions. Document all findings thoroughly and ensure compliance with company reporting procedures and legal requirements. Assist the CCMPS team to ensure that contractors and third-party suppliers are adhering to safety standards and regulations. Support the onboarding process for contractors and monitor their safety performance throughout the course of the project. Work closely with project managers and other teams to integrate safety considerations into project, planning, execution, and ongoing operations. Assist in the rollout and management of health and safety improvement projects within the Logistics, Projects and Construction Teams or project environment. Assist the CCMPS team by using health and safety software and systems to track compliance, manage contractor safety performance, and maintain up-to-date records for permits and safety activities. Demonstrate proficiency in using these systems to ensure smooth management of all safety processes. Provide hands-on support, as necessary, to the LOTO Officer in implementing, monitoring, and enforcing lockout/tagout procedures across the site, ensuring all safety protocols are followed during equipment maintenance and servicing. What you will bring Extensive knowledge of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015 Experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a construction, logistics or project environment. Strong IT proficiency, including experience with health and safety management software, contractor management systems, compliance tracking tools, and permit software. Good understanding of health and safety regulations, audit process, risk management, and safety procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and safety management tools for data reporting and tracking. Certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely). Desirable Knowledge of LEAN methodologies IOSH member Previous experience working in logistics parks or with large-scale projects is advantageous.
