Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen within the Maxillofacial Outpatient Department at University Hospitals Southampton for a Registered Dental Nurse (Band 4). We are looking for a motivated qualified Dental Nurse who can demonstrate a dedication to quality care and provide high standards of dental applicant must be Qualified and Registered with the GDC and have proven experience in dental nursing, ideally with experience in Oral Surgery/Maxillofacial Surgery. The post holder will work within a skilled team of dental nurses, Maxillofacial Surgeons and Support staff to provide dental support, ensuring high quality patient clinics we provide are held on the main hospital site and include Head & Neck oncology, Skin Cancer diagnosis and treatment, Facial Trauma and Orthognathic Surgery. We are a small team of 6 Consultants, 8 Dental Nurses, 1 Associate Nurse Practitioner, along with junior staff. The post holder will act a a source of expertise and knowledge for the patients and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will work as part of the Dental Nurse Team.
The Dental Nurse will ensure patients and carers are received in a calm, courteous and reassuring manner and prepares them to undergo treatment.
The Dental Nurse will assist the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Professional and Technical skills and assists members of the multidisciplinary team in the supervision of the patient until they are fit to leave the department.
All members of the Dental Nurse team are expected to take on additional link roles to support the close team. These can include Moving & Handling, Fire or Dementia Link.
The role requires the post holder to be flexible but the working pattern required is a follows: Monday - (6hrs), Tuesday - (5hrs), Wednesday - (8hrs), Thursday - (5hrs), Friday - (6hrs).
