Main duties of the job
We currently have a new opportunity for a qualified Accountant to join our fast-paced and dynamic Finance Team which supports a £1bn+ Acute Foundation Trust with an annual Capital Programme of c.£80m.
This role is a key part of the senior finance team, providing overall leadership to the organisation, its Capital programme, and supporting the achievement of the finance team vision. As our Finance Manager for Capital & Business Cases, you will contribute to the delivery of our 5-year strategy by using your financial expertise to support a wide range of complex matters such as taking principal responsibility for strategic financial issues relating to the capital programme, providing financial support and specialist advice in matters relating to capital accounting, leasing and any other related tax and accounting issues and contributing to capital developments and the production of business cases.

Job responsibilities
1. To oversee the preparation and delivery of the monthly capital accounts for the Trust, working with the Head of Finance Strategic Planning & Capital on the monthly reporting, trend, and variance analysis.
2. To manage the financial governance system for Capital including new third-party arrangements, and contracts.
3. Support Capital budget and financial plans, financially challenging Budget Managers to optimise Capital financial, contractual, and commercial position working with the Head of Finance Strategic Projects & Capital to produce the annual and three-year financial plan for the Division.
4. Support the Head of Finance Strategic Projects & Capital in developing the financial models and scenario appraisals within Business Cases for capital investments.
5. To work as part of the Strategic Projects finance team, ensuring clear, concise, and professional communication always.
Person Specification
Qualifications / training required
Essential
* Professional qualification (CCAB) in accountancy (CIMA, ACA, CIPFA, ACCA) or exceptional finalist with strong first degree and professional examination results.
* Current / recent experience in a finance environment.
Desirable
* Current / recent knowledge and understanding of the NHS financial environment.
Previous or relevant experience necessary
Essential
* Detailed understanding of budgetary control processes and budget setting / financial planning.
* Detailed understanding of financial accounting and control issues.
* Experience of Financial project management/Financial appraisal and forecasting.
Desirable
* Experience of working within an NHS management accounts team.
* Previous experience of working with Oracle Finance systems.
