Deputy Director of SCG-Oxford Centre of Excellence

Applications are invited for a Deputy Director of SCG-Oxford Centre of Excellence (CoE) to work under Professor Dermot O’Hare, Director of the CoE for a period of 3 years. The postholder will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical guidance in designing and achieving CoE research objectives, including working collaboratively with other PIs in the broader University. The post holder will formulate task objectives for, and supervise the work of, postdoctoral assistants, postgraduate and undergraduate students within Professor O’Hare’s research team which spans both organometallic and materials chemistry.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Inorganic, Organometallic or Materials Chemistry (or a related area) with significant postdoctoral research experience and a well-established reputation and publication record. You will be expected to lead, motivate and recruit a team of research staff and students. The post involves project management of large, complex projects, including significant budgets across the major research themes within the SCG-Oxford Centre of Excellence. The applicant would be expected to demonstrate successful sourcing and management of research funding. Knowledge of invention recording and patent administration would be desirable.
The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and is available as soon as possible.
