We are currently looking for a Head of Supply Chain & Logistics to join our team in Cardiff. You will be expected to travel to different sites. Our current buying teams are based in Cardiff and Reigate. Ideally this role will be based in Cardiff but we’re flexible in terms of location across any of our main business hubs where there is a larger infrastructure (Cardiff, Exeter, Slough, Hemel, Reigate, Canterbury).
As Head of Supply Chain & Logistics you will manage and direct the purchasing of all the goods and services for the Group, across 4 subsidiary businesses, with annual revenue of over £175m per annum.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
* Responsible for identifying potential supplier sources, conducting interviews with potential vendors, negotiating favourable supplier agreements, and managing supplier and vendor contracts.
* Engagement and oversight of subsidiary stores and procurement activity, driving consistency and quality of service.
* Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with our goals.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to improve purchasing efficiency.
* Continuously assess market trends to ensure the Group maintains a competitive procurement process.
* Identify and develop strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, service, and cost effectiveness.
* Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure favourable agreements.
* Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely delivery, quality assurance, and adherence to contractual agreements.
* Analyse procurement spend and identify areas for cost savings and process improvements.
* Develop and manage procurement budgets, ensuring spend within approved limits.
* Implement best practices in procurement processes, reducing waste and inefficiencies.
* Draft, review, and approve contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and Group requirements.
* Manage the renewal process for expiring contracts, ensuring continuity of supply.
* Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and applicable regulations.
* Collaborate with various departments, including operations, finance, and legal, to ensure seamless procurement processes.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and provide a positive procurement service.
* Implement inventory management systems to track purchasing data and vendor performance.
* Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supplier risks, price fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions.
* Develop contingency plans to deal with potential supply shortages or delays.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to ensure continuous improvement and capability development.
* Implement and monitor policies for responsible and sustainable procurement.
* Provide regular reports to senior management on procurement performance, cost savings, and key risks.
* Use data and analytics to monitor procurement trends and make informed decisions.
* Develop procurement and warehouse management strategies that reduce the group's carbon impact and deliver on the Group’s ESG policies.
* Ensure any Group IT system utilising supplier rates is consistently updated with the latest rates to maintain accurate and current data for procurement and financial operations.

* Experience in the sector (desirable).
* CIPS qualification (desirable).
* Experience designing a group strategy (desirable).
The salary for this role is up to £55,000 with a car allowance.
