FIXED TERM: 12 Months, Part Time 14.8 Hours a Week
SALARY: £26,421 to £28,770 (pro rata)
LOCATION: Willand
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to fulfill the post of District Officer within our Environment and Enforcement team based at Willand. The post involves working 14.8 hours per week over two days.
Do you have an inquisitive nature? Enjoy methodical and outside of the box working? Resilient? This role could be for you. The post oversees the investigation and enforcement of environmental crime such as Fly Tipping, Abandoned vehicles, Littering, PSPO as well as assisting in the management of the council’s car parking assets.
The role is very much community based, with a focus on providing education and support to the communities within Mid Devon. This includes working with partner agencies, schools and other council service areas to deliver a comprehensive service.
Team working will be an important function for the successful candidate. The ability to support others and go above and beyond to ensure service delivery is essential.
The successful candidate will need to have a logical mindset, tact, diplomacy and the ability to work with the public in a varied range of situations. A full driving license will be required along with good physical health due to the nature of the post.
A Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken for the successful candidate.

As a District Officer your duties will include but are not limited to:
* Investigation and case building for environmental crime
* Undertaking interviews in accordance with PACE
* Engaging with communities and members of the public
* Issuance of Fixed Penalty Notices and Penalty Charge Notices
* Managing the council’s car parking assets
