Job Title: Purchasing Manager (Mandarin Speaking)
Location: Mildenhall, Suffolk (Hybrid)
Salary: Circa £55,000
A reputable manufacturer based in Mildenhall - with an international presence - is looking for a Mandarin speaking Purchasing Manager to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis!
As a key member of the Senior Management team and overseeing a team of two, your job will be based around ensuring that prices are continuously monitored and negotiated with Suppliers, contracts are regularly reviewed and maintained accordingly, and materials arrive just in time.
Duties
1. Oversee the purchasing of materials and consumables, managing MOQ and lead times to support consistent on-time delivery.
2. Lead stock control processes, ensuring accurate stock levels and minimizing risks of shortages or excesses.
3. Provide daily updates on lead-time issues, addressing potential delays proactively to support customer satisfaction.
4. Implement and drive the S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process to ensure that forecast demand is effectively communicated to production and other internal stakeholders.
5. Build and nurture relationships with suppliers.
6. Address and resolve supplier, customer, and stakeholder issues promptly, enhancing our reputation as a trusted UK partner.
7. Collaborate closely with Finance to monitor Purchase Price Variances (PPVs) and rebates, ensuring alignment on financial goals.
8. Partner with Quality teams to ensure product specifications are met consistently and cost-effectively.
9. Contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) by providing detailed costing and financial insights to support design and RFQs.
10. Lead, develop, and inspire the purchasing team to achieve objectives, drive continuous improvement, and adopt best practices.
11. Promote and implement lean initiatives within the purchasing function to support efficiency and growth.
12. Uphold rigorous standards of Health and Safety compliance within the department at all times.
Desired Skill Set:
1. Mandarin Speaking
2. Proven experience in a Purchasing Manager or similar supply chain role (manufacturing or engineering)
3. Strong negotiation skills
4. Familiarity with budgeting and financial analysis related to purchasing and cost control
