Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic and motivated Registered Children's Nurse with a commitment to family-centred care, to join our team on the Children's Burns Ward as a band 5 Nurse. We have both a full time and part time vacancy available. The Children's Burns ward is a small, friendly unit consisting of eight beds in total. We provide a high standard of specialised care for children, young people and their families who have sustained burn injuries or experienced significant medical skin loss. We also care for children requiring outpatient burns care in our burns dressings clinics held daily on the ward. The ward forms part of the St Andrew's Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery, a world renowned service, promoting an excellent standard of care and professionalism within this specialty. Main duties of the job The successful applicant must have experience with looking after sick children, and a knowledge of burn care would also be preferable but is not essential. The role will involve caring for inpatient children with burns injuries and medical skin loss, and also children requiring outpatient care in our dressings clinics held daily on the ward. The burns unit also has a new outreach service known as "The Burns Bus" which travels to various parts of the London and South East Burns Network to provide burns care close to patients homes. There will also be the opportunity to work alongside the intensive care team caring for children with life threatening burn injuries in the ITU setting. The successful applicant will be fully supported, with in house specialist training, mentoring and preceptorship.
