At NHS Property Services we have a fantastic opportunity for a Environmental Auditor, who is based within London or the South. This role is a hybrid role and will require travel to cover sites within London and the South. This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environment Auditor to join our Integrated Audit team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and conducting environmental audits at NHSPS properties to ensure that our service delivery adheres to the highest environmental management standards. Your work will provide assurance of environmental compliance to the business and our customers that all activities are carried out in compliance with policies, processes, regulations, legislation, NHSPS management systems, and best practices.
As a environmental Auditor, you will play a pivotal role in continuously improving our environmental compliance to customers. Your expertise and insights will help us maintain the highest standards of environment, ensuring that we meet and exceed our customers' expectations.
The role holder should have in depth knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
Environmental Legislation
ISO14001: Environmental Management SystemKey Responsibilities
Work with colleagues within the team to develop an environmental assurance framework and an integrated audit framework that encompasses all relevant inspection and audit activity, based around Plan, Do, Check Act (PDCA) principles.
Support the development of an annual audit programme in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
Undertake scheduled on-site audits to identify and record non-conformities, improvement opportunities and best practice.
Produce detailed environmental reports following audit completion.
Communicate findings, conclusions, and recommendations with all stakeholders, including senior leadership.
Support the business functions to complete external contractor and approved supplier audits in a professional manner in accordance with service level agreements.
Maintain and interrogate audit dashboards to provide reporting and insights of common themes and audit action tracking and progress.
Support the delivery of training, in line with central training plan and agreed presentations, to the relevant teams as required.
This role will require you to demonstrate the following Experience, Capabilities and Knowledge
ISO 14001 audit qualification as auditor or lead auditor for one of the following standards (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 45001). Minimum ISO 14001 Internal Auditor.
Experience working in facilities management and/or property management within the healthcare sector.
Knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to Property and Facilities Management services.
Qualification in property or facilities management services (e.g. IWFM)
Demonstrable experience in conducting environmental inspections and audits.
Experience with customer facing auditing role (internal and or external).
Detailed knowledge of environmental management processes and systems.
Detailed understanding of risk assessment and safe system of work development techniques.
Detailed understanding of risk management tools and approaches.
Knowledge of PFI contracts.
Proven experience of developing strong and effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, both internally and externally.
Experience of operating in a busy, customer focused business.
Experience of driving improvements to enable efficiency
Ability to produce high quality reports.
