Our client design and build a range of Commercial and Military Craft, impeccably to high standards. The opportunity for an experienced Composite/GRP Boat builder to join the team has arisen as part of the company’s ongoing development.
Their Composite Boat builders are responsible for a broad range of composites related tasks on new build vessels. The role will include everything from mould preparation, to component installation, to final fit out. This is a diverse role that requires a broad understanding of composite construction processes and small craft construction. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in related employment, and the ability to work at a high standard.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Composite/GRP manufacture in hand laid, infusion.
• Pattern making for small components, working from 2D and 3D drawings
• Construction and installation of internal and external structure
• Installation and assembly of custom composite/GRP components into the vessel structure, including sub mouldings, lifting
structures and sub-components such as hatches and doors.
• Preparation for gel repair/ paint and basic painting processes such as filling, fairing, and priming
• Problem solving and fault diagnosis
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
• Experienced in new build GRP construction, polyester/vinylester and epoxy
• Proof of marine qualifications desirable
• Experience in a high-quality new build, custom manufacturer.
• Working to a high standard
• Working within set timescales
• Ability to be independent as well as work within a team on a vessel project – planning own work and checking stock and information
• Ability to follow instruction and work in a safe and productive manner
