Position Overview
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and hands-on Tool Rental Manager to re-establish and oversee our tool rental operations. This role is critical in re-launching, developing, and growing our tool rental business, ensuring it aligns with our company's strategic goals and delivers exceptional customer service.
The Tool Rental Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, inventory, and distribution of tools and equipment used within the organization. This role ensures that all tools are in proper working condition, available when needed, and managed efficiently to support operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Business Development:
* Develop and execute a business plan for the tool rental division.
* Identify market opportunities and establish partnerships with suppliers and manufacturers.
* Conduct market research to understand customer needs and preferences.
* Set up the tool rental facility, including sourcing and purchasing tools and equipment.
* Competition Analysis:
o Continuously monitor competitors’ activities, pricing, and offerings.
o Analyze competitive data to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
o Develop strategies to differentiate our tool rental services and gain a competitive edge.
* Sales and Customer Service:
* Research, develop and maintain pricing strategies and rental policies.
* Drive sales through effective marketing, promotions, and customer engagement.
* C ollaborate with the IT and marketing teams to implement website enhancements and updates
* Train and manage staff to provide excellent customer service and support.
* Prepare and manage the budget for the tool rental division.
* Monitor financial performance, analyze trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Ensure profitability by optimizing costs and maximizing revenue.
* Compliance and Safety:
* Ensure all tools and equipment meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
* Develop and implement safety protocols for staff and customers.
* Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
* Tool Inventory Management:
* Implement inventory management systems to track tool usage, maintenance, and availability.
* Maintain an accurate inventory of all tools and equipment.
* Conduct regular inventory audits and inspections.
* Track tool usage and ensure timely return of borrowed tools.
* Tool Maintenance:
* Ensure tools are regularly serviced, cleaned, and maintained.
* Coordinate repairs or replacements of damaged or worn-out tools.
* Keep detailed maintenance records for all equipment.
* Tool Distribution and Control:
* Develop, manage and maintain the check-in and check-out process for tools.
* Implement and enforce policies for tool usage and handling.
* Ensure that tools are available for projects as needed.
* Procurement and Budgeting:
* Identify the need for new tools and equipment through market research and current trends
* Source and procure tools within the allocated budget.
* Negotiate with suppliers and vendors for the best pricing
* Data Management and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of tool inventory, usage, and maintenance.
* Generate reports on tool usage, inventory status, and maintenance schedules.
* Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
* Work closely with store managers and other staff to understand tool rental requirements.
* Collaborate with multiple business units within the company to align operations and support overall business objectives
* Provide recommendations on tool selection and usage.
* Assist in training staff on new tools and equipment.
* Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in tool technology.
* Participate in professional development opportunities related to tool and business management
Qualifications
* Proven experience in tool rental management or a similar role, preferably in the building materials industry.
* Strong understanding of tool and equipment types, uses, and maintenance.
* Excellent business acumen with a track record of successfully developing and growing a business unit.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in inventory management and rental software.
* Ability to analyze financial data and make informed business decisions.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Business management, operations, or a related field is preferred.
