We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sustainability Manager to join a leading, global, billion FMCG manufacturing company known for its great-tasting products!
This business will invest in the development of this Sustainability Manager role, equipping you with the key skills for the present and ensuring you have a fulfilling, long-term career. Over 50% of the site’s staff have worked within the business for over five years, and the company honors long-serving staff who have been with the company for more than ten years, representing almost a third of the workforce.
This is a Group-Site role in which you will be responsible for overseeing three of the business’s largest manufacturing sites within the Midlands area.
Key Duties of a Sustainability Manager:
1. Lead the alignment of the group’s Responsible Business agenda and support positive impact plans engaging with customers and the overall category within the respective sites.
2. Develop a meaningful, achievable, and scientifically robust roadmap to progress towards net zero, aligning with the business’s Net Zero targets.
3. Develop and implement the site’s Sustainability strategy, compliance processes, and procedures.
4. Provide responsible business (sustainability) expertise to the site(s) management team.
5. Implement appropriate KPI reporting and management review to drive continuous improvement.
6. Support the business’s positive impact plan regarding health initiatives through collaboration with the commercial function, especially NPD.
7. Work closely with the procurement and technical teams to ensure that supply chain risks are well understood and proactively managed.
8. Support site Profit Improvement Plans (PIPs) by highlighting any deviations from our positive impact plan goals.
9. Engage actively and implement change management across the site.
10. Support site health and safety objectives.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required:
1. Previous experience as a Sustainability Manager or Environmental Manager, ideally gained within an FMCG/manufacturing environment, but not essential.
2. Environmental, ethical, packaging, waste, and social responsibility knowledge and expertise within a manufacturing industry.
3. Good technical knowledge of retailer requirements and a working knowledge of their monitoring systems.
4. Experience with Sedex and ISO14000 audit standards and audit management.
5. Experience developing sustainability strategies and engaging internal and external stakeholders is desirable.
6. Proven skills in developing teams through change projects.
7. Proven skills in coaching and mentoring.
