About the Opportunity We are the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver £7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services. We provide the front end design and engineering capability across the PPP portfolio. As a result of this increasing demand for our services we are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer to join our team in Birchwood Park, Warrington. Key responsibilities: - Delivery of the civil engineering design associated with the Enabling works (services diversions and land remediation) to allow the new facility to be constructed on a brownfield site, whilst enabling surrounding facilities to remain functional. - Defining the civil engineering requirements (basis of design) for the Enabling works and new facility. - Inputting into the layouts being developed by the mechanical and process engineering team (e.g. below ground services connections, drainage, flood risk, road access) - Reviewing the existing site data and inputting into the land preparation / enabling works. In particular, working with key stakeholders to determine the most appropriate solutions for below ground services removal, retention or diversion taking cognisance of our permanent requirements. - Inputting into environmental remediation strategy (e.g. cut and fill strategy, materials management plan). The existing site is brownfield and will require significant site investigation and remediation prior to new construction works being undertaken. - Advising on drainage strategy for the site incorporating any flood risk requirements. - Reviewing site access logistics (e.g. road layouts) - Develop appropriate deliverables list and format (drawings, specifications, reports, BIM etc.) - Leading co-ordination and collaboration with other engineering disciplines and wider stakeholders (particularly below ground services co-ordination). - Work with the CS&A RE and Lead engineers to develop design and construction strategy for the project (e.g. programme, deliverables, resource forecasting) - A degree qualified (BEng or MEng), Civil Engineer - Chartership Membership of either Institution of Civil Engineers and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers. - Experience in the design and detailing of highways & drainage, street works, public works, SUDS, building drainage, utilities coordination/diversion of services. - Knowledge of seismic design requirements for waste storage / processing plant beneficial - Knowledge and use of BIM packages Our Culture: Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity.
