The Network Engineer will be part of a small infrastructure team, playing a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the IT network to ensure optimal performance, up-to-date security, and reliability.
My client is looking for an individual who will bring ideas and enthusiasm, integrating with the team to support existing staff members and enhance the delivery of security-based updates to the infrastructure.
The role will primarily be network-focused; however, due to the size of the team, there will be a need to work on both infrastructure and security projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Proficiency in managing and optimizing network infrastructure, including virtual networks, cloud infrastructure, and WAN technologies.
* Experience with managing and supporting backup and disaster recovery solutions.
* Ability to work closely with security and infrastructure engineers and appreciate their requirements.
* Extensive knowledge of configuring and managing firewalls, routers, load balancers, and switches.
* Ability to ensure security and operational updates are professionally deployed within business guidelines.
* Advanced knowledge and understanding of networking, including TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, VLANs, load balancing, and VPNs.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
* Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
* Expected to work outside of core hours as the role demands.
* Experience in monitoring network performance and resolving bottlenecks.
* Work with helpdesk and educate helpdesk staff while resolving tickets pertinent to the network role.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Azure & AWS cloud services and architectures.
* Knowledge of Cisco switches, including configuring, security, and firmware updates.
* Knowledge of FortiNet firewalls.
* Experience with Dell servers, including iDrac.
* Knowledge of Veeam and Zerto data resiliency platforms.
* Knowledge of Rapid7.
* Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents escalated by 1st/2nd line support.
* Interact with vendors for support escalations.
* Understanding of ITIL practices.
* Ability to automate solutions via scripting.
* Ability to plan and test pentest remediations and communicate substantial changes that can affect the network/applications to the wider business area owners.
* Ability to update self-signed/domain certificates across network services/devices.
