Job Summary
Are you a newly qualified Clinical Psychologist looking for a development opportunity? Wirral Children & Young People's Mental Health Service 0-18 Team is an established supportive and friendly team seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to join us in working with the children, young people, and families of Wirral.
We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team, which includes existing Clinical Psychologists. The successful candidate will participate in the delivery of specialist evidenced-based interventions, in-depth assessments, formulations, and supervision to other practitioners and psychology trainees. We are seeking someone with a specific interest in complex case work to support our Complex Case Team in their work with young people and systems around them, but will offer a wide range of experiences to take your career forward and meet the competencies for this development post.

Applicants should possess a Post-graduate/doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology. There are opportunities to be involved in service development and improvement. We offer a range of group work and individual therapeutic interventions. Consultation and joint working is also part of the day-to-day work.

Qualifications
Essential
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, as accredited by the BPS
* HPC Registered
Desirable
* Prequalification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
* Skills in conducting complex psychological assessment and intervention frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
* Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex and/or clinically sensitive information to clients and professional colleagues within and outside the NHS.
Desirable
* Knowledge of psychological techniques to treat a range of disorders with specific reference to difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
* High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients.
Desirable
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
* Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
* Experience of working with clients with a learning disability.
